How much tread does your tire need?

In most states you are required to have at least 2/32 of an inch of tread. If you would like to check the depth of tread you have, you can use the penny test. The penny test is easy to do, you just take a penny and insert it head first into several treads if you can not see the top of Lincoln’s Head you are good. However if you happen to see the top of Lincoln’s head then you need to replace your tires. Good tread provides traction and allows your tires to grip the road in all weather conditions. Having little to no tread can be very dangerous. Without a proper amount of tread on your tires you can hydroplane.
